About me, well now, lets see. I have been reviewing and interviewing bands for the past 7 years and in 2004 I decided to start my own site - darkali.com ...
I spent my early teens listening to music and playing guitar as I wanted to be a 'Rock Star'! I soon came to the realisation that I just wasn't that good, so I decided to go with plan B - Music Journalism. After all it seemed like the next best thing.
After dropping out of school at 14 I began to write reviews for my own amusement. At 15 I started working for takeoutmusic.com and I was given my first break, the opportunity to interview Brad Roberts from the Crash Test Dummies (thanks Scottie!). I continued to write for Takeout Music for 4 years. I have also spent time in New York doing work eprience with Takeout, have written for comfortcomes.com and been part of the Press Team at Glastonbury Festival.
My current portfolio includes interviews with: INXS, CKY, Crash Test Dummies, Dogs Die In Hot Cars, Jeff Klein, The Bluetones, Jesse Malin, The A.M. , Hush The Many (Heed The Few), Eighteenth Day Of May, Atomsplit, Meet Me At The Pub Ben Taylor, Bromheads Jacket and Antennas To Heaven, as well as having written numerous reviews.
I am available for freelance work. If you would like to contact me you can do so via the contact form or by emailing me direct at ali@darkali.com.
